Dishes. A mortarium was a large course pottery bowl used for
grinding and mixing herbs, nuts and spices. |

Shield. The shield was large, curved and either
circular or oval. The cuirass (body armour) was made from lightweight
leather or padded linen. The greaves protected the shins and lower thighs. |

Sword. A short bronze or iron sword was used for slashing
rather than stabbing. |

Vase. The best pottery was made in Athens in the potters
quarter called the Kerameikos. The clay was of very high quality and was
reddish brown. |

Greek Masks. The Ancient Greeks wore masks during theatre
