How to Install the CITRIX ICA Client

 

The first time you access the site from each computer you use you will need to download a small piece of software called a Citrix ICA client.  The ICA client will be installed on your home computer and it allows you to use the system.  Downloading this client has no security implications.

 

These instructions are for Windows PC’s only and not for the following;

            • Mac’s – please raise this with you teacher if you are using a MAC

            • None Internet Explorer browsers (e.g. Firefox) – the process for other browsers will differ slightly

 

 

Note: The screens may look a little different for older Windows versions however the process is very similar (the screen shots provided are from a machine using Windows XP)

 

Step 1

 

From the homepage (https://homeworking.barnsley.gov.uk/education ) click on the link as shown below.

 

 

 

Step 2

 

You will see a screen titled File Download – Security Warning

You are given the option to either ‘Run’ or ‘Save’ the file

Click RUN

 

 

 

 

Step 3

 

The file will download after which you may get a Security Warning screen, if so click RUN.

 

            

 

 

Step 4

 

The InstallShield Wizard will open, on the next screen click YES.

 

             

 

 

Step 5

 

After reading the Citrix License Agreement click YES

 

 

 

Step 6

 

You have now successfully installed the ICA client.  Click OK and close down Internet Explorer

 

 

 

Step 7

 

Open the remote working homepage.  If you have successfully installed the ICA client you will not be prompted to download it on the homepage
