Key Issue 1: Continuing to improve pupils' academic performance

  by developing literacy work across all departments, including focussed literacy lessons in Years 7 and 8
  by working to tackle under-achievement of boys
  by examining the policy for the more able pupils
  by developing monitoring and appraisal procedures
  by increasing the pace of learning
  by addressing the issues raised by Ofsted which relate to individual departments.

Key Issue 2: Improving assessment procedures

  by completing a review of assessment policy throughout the school, and introducing a revised
  by developing the use of assessment to identify areas of weakness in pupils' work and changing Schemes of work where necessary.

Key Issue 3: Developing numeracy skills

  by drawing up a school numeracy policy
  by developing a whole school approach to teaching numeracy skills in all subjects
  by extending the use of computer based learning in mathematics and introducing a numeracy element to mathematics in Year 7.

Key Issue 4: Matching teachers and support staff to the demands of the curriculum

  by ensuring that RE is taught by appropriate teachers
  by increasing the involvement of Curriculum Support Assistants in lesson planning.
