National Curriculum Key Stage 3: Years 7 - 9
In Years 7 - 9 we offer a broad and balanced programme which includes all National Curriculum Subjects.
Core Subjects: English, Mathematics and Science.
Foundation Subjects: German, History, Technology, Geography, Art, Music, Physical Education
In addition, Information Technology, which includes practical experience of computers across a range of subjects, Drama, Religious Education and Personal Health and Social Citizenship Education (PHSCE) including preliminary careers advice, are also taught. Students who demonstrate an ability in German will have the opportunity to take a second Foreign Language, currently Spanish.
At the end of Year 9 students will take the Key Stage 3 Tests/Tasks (known as SATs) in the subjects specified by the Department for Education and Skills.
In the Spring Term of Year 9 a booklet will be issued to parents giving details of the courses available to students in Years 10 and 11.
National Curriculum Key Stage 4: Years 10 - 11
Pupils currently follow a common curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Religious Education, Physical Education and Personal Health and Social Education, Citizenship, Work Related Learning and Cross Curricular ICT. The majority also study German.
In addition we offer the following "Options" - subjects - GCSE Double Science, BTEC Science, Triple Science, AS Level GCE Applied ICT, Award in Digital Applications (Level 1), Business & Communication Systems, Business Studies, Health & Social Care, Leisure & Tourism, COPE, GCSE German or Spanish, NVQ Language Units, GCSE Electronic Products, GCSE Resistant Materials, GCSE Catering, Construction & The Built Environment, Basic Skills, GCSE History, GCSE Geography, GCSE Religious Education, GCSE Art, GCSE Physical Education, GCSE Performing Arts: Dance, GCSE Expressive Arts, GCSE Music, BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts,BTEC First Diploma in Sport (Excercies and Fitness), BTEC Art and Design, NVQ Accounting (Level 2), NVQ Beauty Therapy (Level 1), Buiness/Business Administration Young Apprenticeship (Level 2), Caring for Children Foundation Award (Level 1), GCSE Child Development, Construction (Level 1) Building Craft Occupations Foundation Certificate, Engineering and Technology Certificate (Level 1) Gateway to Engineering, NVQ Hairdressing (Level 1), Land Based Studies (Level 1) Animal and Horse Care Certificate, GCSE Media Studies, NVQ Performing Engineering Operations (Level 1) Mechanical Engineering, Web Design Certificate (Level 2). The school also collaborates with local secondary schools and colleges in providing additional courses.
