Home and School Contact

Co-operation between the school and the home is essential if our students are to be successful.  There must be a three-way partnership between parents, students and teachers, and we all need to work together for the benefit of your child.

We will do everything possible to keep you fully informed about your child's progress and welfare.  You will be told when your child has done well (or is working below ability or potential).  We will also send you regular newsletters about the school and our achievements.  As far as possible, Parents' Evenings will take place shortly after Records of Achievement have been issued.  There is an additional Parents' Evening in November for the Parents of Year 7, so they can discuss how their children have settled in at School.  All Subject Teachers, Form Tutors and heads of Year will be present at these Parents' Evenings.

You are always welcome at Kirk Balk, but if you feel that there are problems concerning your child that need to be discussed directly with school staff you should inform the Head of Inclusion or Head of Year as appropriate.  Appointments for personal interviews can then be made if required.

Head's Surgery

As an added facility for making contact with the school there is the Head's Surgery.

On the first Thursday of each month, the Headteacher or a member of the Senior Staff will be available in the evening between 3.15 p.m. and 4.45 p.m. if you wish to discuss any matter of interest or concern to yourself or your child.

It is not necessary to make an appointment on these evenings but you may do so if you wish.
