Our trip to Bradford
By Jake Taylor and Paige Ellis
On Thursday 25th March Class 9 and Class 10 went to Bradford to an Indian temple. When
we got there we had to go up some stairs and had to take of our shoes because it was
respectful to the gods to do this.
We went into a special room where we listened to a lady called Mrs Buttoo, who told us
all about the Hindus and what they did for
their Gods. In this room we had to have our legs crossed or kneel because if we had our
toes facing the Gods it would be disrespectful to the Gods. She also talked about Indian
symbols and clothes. Sonny , Rebbecca and Millie tried on some Indian clothes. After that we went and watched the
Hindus worship their Gods and we all joined in by clapping. I thought that the Hindus singing
was really good. The priest made circles with the Ghee lamp to worship the Gods with the most
important things to the Hindu like Air, Water, Food, Space and Earth. At the end of the service
we all got some Prashad, which is blessed food, and it was an apple. After having a lovely dinner
we went to the Bombay stores. Most of the things at the stores were for girls so I bought my
sister a ring. It was then time to get back on the coach where i fell to sleep on the way home
but I had really enjoyed my day at the Hindu temple.
